At the end, when the weekend is finished, the Moon shows herself shining over our frustration... Posted by Picasa

The wheather ruinned our beach plans

It´s raining all the week, and despite our hope to have sun this weekend, ´São Pedro´ betrayed us.

So, we´ve decided to stay at home and walk around. One of the places we didn´t visited yet is Paranapiacaba. It´s almost a phantom city in the middle of the rain forest in the way to the littoral. We had to leave the highway and get some old roads. The city was built at the end of 19th century by English engineers that came to Brazil to build a railway between São Paulo and the littoral. Then, the railway system transportation was abandoned by the Brazilian government (!!! no comments at all !!!), so, the city was abandoned.

Nowadays there is a restoration program from the local government. The objective is to make a touristic point, the hope of the people of the city is to preserve and make a right restoration.

We spend all the day there. It was a very nice outing.

Yeah. we rather prefer to be at beach, but... what can we do? Posted by Picasa

This is the English part of the city... Posted by Picasa

And this is the Portuguese part.Posted by Picasa

The vegetation has invaded the landscape and man´s construction. Posted by Picasa

It´s almost impossible to distinguish, but it´s another abandoned train. Posted by Picasa

And there are kind of 'pousadas'... Can you imagine a nigth here? Posted by Picasa
